Marie Rose Paul-Herisca EULOGY

Marie Rose Paul – Herisca affectionately called “Philo” was born to the late Zulmie Jesuca and Souvenir Paul on March 7, 1955, in Verette, Haiti.  Marie Rose grew up in Liancourt under the love and care of her mother, Zulmie.  She was able to complete her schooling and had high aspirations for her future as a seamstress. As a youth, she was confirmed at Notre Dame du Mont Carmel Catholic church. After a short battle with sickness, she heard the voice of the Lord, and gave her life to Jesus Christ at L’Eglise Castra Baptist de Liancourt. At L’Eglise Castra she was faithful in the choir, La Jeunesse (Youth Ministry) and other activities around the church. As a young adult, she enjoyed sewing clothing and would make school uniforms and even wedding dresses.  In 1978, Philo discussed the plans to migrate to the United States in pursuit of opportunities that would enable her to better provide for her single mother. Philo traveled by raft to the island of Bimini in the Bahamas and then to Florida. Marie Rose was the first in her family to move to the United States of America.

When Philo started her life in Delray Beach, Florida her first job was working as a florist in a plant nursery.  There, she enjoyed decorating and arranging flowers.  In 1981, her life changed forever after she gave birth to her twin daughters, Ledlyne and Zulna Ledna. She enjoyed being a mom and would often make her children’s clothing and always kept them fancy and pretty for church and other events. She worked at various restaurants and Tom’s Place until 1989, Marie Rose decided to pursue a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and started attending courses in the evening at Kiser College in Fort Lauderdale to complete her certification.  Once Marie Rose became a CNA her first job was working the evening shift at White Hall Nursing Hall. She later worked for several agencies such as: Life Care, Bethesda Plus, ACT Home Health, Five Star Home Health Care and provided Private Duty support services.  She enjoyed providing quality care and love to the elderly in their moments of need.

As a devoted mother, her number one priority was ensuring that her daughters knew her savior and Lord Jesus Christ.  On Saturday mornings before she left for work, she would often leave them with scriptures they were to memorize before the conclusion of her work shift.  Even if she was working on Sundays, she made sure the girls were in Sunday School and Church. She taught the girls the importance of cooking, cleaning and keeping things tidy, but mostly she taught them the importance of Prayer.

Marie Rose, never knew a stranger and loved everyone she came into contact with.  She has been a member of Calvary Bible Alliance church for over 30 years and was an original member of the churches established Prayer Cells.  She was the secretary of the Prayer Cell Group “Messager Du Rois”. And each member of that cell become like family as they visited and prayed for countless people in the hospitals, prayed on the streets, provided home visits and provided access to Jesus Christ to all.

During the day, you could always count on a special phone call from Marie Rose. She was known to call and check up on others providing encouragement and of love. She enjoyed checking in on her family and friends and providing her support in any way she could. She also enjoyed shopping and sending gifts of love from her favorite department stores.

Marie Rose “Philo” fought a good fight and on March 16th, 2022, according to 2 Tim 4:8, she received her crown of righteousness. She is remembered and survived by her daughters: Ledlyne (Melvin) Vazquez of Orlando, Florida and Zulna Ledna Heriscar of Atlanta, Georgia.
